About Me

Susan Cox-Smith is founder and owner of Håuspa, a unique design and materials business based in North Carolina. Susan built the concept of Håuspa on fifteen years as a graphic designer and ten years helping clients realize their design goals in locations as gritty as Brooklyn and as traditional as rural England.

Susan created Håuspa to provide customers with design solutions they might not be able to accomplish alone, by highlighting research, unique sources, products, information and methods for implementing good design for homes, showrooms, experiential venues and visual merchandising.

She is also the roving pair of eyes behind Håuspa, the blog, a unique journal created to share those life-enhancing must-haves with her readers.

Coming soon: Hauspa Lighting, an online resource for light fixtures made from recycled and updated materials. Using a versatile powder coating process, Hauspa Lighting can repurpose old fixtures and make them unique, stylish and vibrantly viable once again. Check back soon to see our online offerings.

Susan holds a certificate in Fine Art and Antique Appraisal from New York University and a post-graduate diploma in Graphic Design from the recognized and respected Portfolio Center. She has served as an art director for several consumer magazines and has worked in a number of roles at auction houses in New York City and Washington, DC. In years past, she helped revive a farmhouse for her family on an historic estate outside London. She currently loves bargain hunting furniture and fabrics in the rich veins of High Point, NC, Northern France, Stockholm and Madrid. Residing now in Greensboro, NC she and her family are renovating a mid-century, transitional ranch with spare pennies and lots of sweat equity.
