Singing In the Rain

New York was wet, not just wet, drenched, drowned and deluged with water. Still a great trip as we saw several old friends, had some nice meals and DH bought some wicked cool Ray Bans that make him look like a model in Wallpaper*.

Stayed at the Dylan, which is like W Union Square's little brother's hotel. Pretty quiet considering it's just around the corner from Grand Central, which made it very convenient transportation-wise. Not my favorite part of Manhattan, but good for our purposes this trip.

I love that nice is the new mean in NYC. Everyone, from hotel doormen to boutique clerks are friendly, approchable and, well, nice. Even a quirky lady in an elevator exchanged plesantries.

16storm_promo.190.jpgWe didn't do any shopping (except for the sunglasses), we ate at old, familiar restaurants and napped to the gentle rapping (ok, maybe not that gentle) of the rain on our window.

DH gave his keynote to a group of UNICEF media/marketing/fundraising folks from all over the world and was warmly received.

We gobbled down lunch at Pret a Manger (oh how I love Pret!) retrieved our bags and winged our way back to NC. Amazingly, we experienced no major problems with our air travel, probably because we left at 5:30am on Sunday and returned on a 3:30 direct to G'boro. Wet, but wonderful.
